We had four woodblock artists capture Luray Caverns in a way no other medium could.  Etching mark by mark to match the drip by drip. Because good things take time.

Tugboat

Valerie Diane Lueth operates Tugboat Printshop in Pittsburgh, PA and creates her unique woodcuts with a grassroots approach to making and sharing. This multi-faceted artist and mother of two carves imaginative works of art that pulse with intricate detailing, warmth, and curiosity. In 2006, shortly after completing her BFA in printmaking, Lueth bought her first press and started her printshop. Since then, her drawings and prints have been exhibited, featured, and collected by patrons, galleries, magazines, cultural institutions, and museums in the US and abroad.

"Woodcut is a high-contrast medium. The addition of round coin shapes lends subtle scale and modernity."

Gloria Shows

Gloria Ann Shows is a print-focused artist whose work transforms fragments of memory and place into layered visual landscapes. Currently a Printmaking Associate at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Maryland, she earned an MFA in printmaking from The Ohio State University. Show exhibits her work in collections around the country and was named a Momentum Spotlight Artist by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition. Beyond the studio, she contributes to her community with teaching, collaborative print projects, and public commissions including from the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

"Time accumulates in the woodblock; each step cannot be rushed, forming a landscape frozen still in time."
